Australia is at a crossroad. Governments have been allowing large parcels of our country to be sold into foreign hands. Many Australian owned businesses have been taken over by foreign companies and most of our manufacturing is being shipped overseas. I don't believe in selling all our assets to other countries, particularly those that should be retained in the interests of all Australians. Indeed, I believe the only real assets we have are the land we own and the businesses that stand on it. Foreign investment should be sought and used to create additional value in, and wealth for, Australia. That which our land and enterprise create can be sold to foreign interests, but not the land and enterprise themselves.

 

Electricity prices have skyrocketed in the last 10 years by 200%. Ordinary people are now paying way above what they should be. We need a Reserved Resource policy. Australia with our vast reserves of coal should be enjoying the cheapest electricity in the world. It is a disgrace that we are paying world prices to mining companies for our gas and coal.

 

The most important thing an elected Member of Parliament must do is represent the view of his electorate. I believe the two party system has bred a system that severely compromises this basic premise. Politicians in Australia's major political parties vote along Party lines, without necessarily seeking the views, opinions and suggestions of their own electorates. I will build a Longman electorate internet polling system that will guarantee you views will be heard.

 

Electoral donations by multinational companies to major parties must stop. Accountability and honesty in the parliament must be returned. We cannot continue to allow these big companies to have a say in our politics.

 

Everyone should be able to afford to buy a home in their lifetime. The decentralization of our cities is the best way to provide this opportunity. Moving government headquarters and providing incentives for Private companies to move to regional areas is the best way to accomplish this.

 

We are a country based on Christian values and those that come to our shores should be prepared to embrace and live by those values also. While I do not expect them to become Christians, I do expect them to understand and respect our way of life, or leave. I do not and never will accept parallel systems of law.

 

The Family is the quintessential unit that must be maintained to keep our social structure intact. It is the best environment for children to be nurtured and loved and the elderly to be respected. I believe that the marriage of a man and woman will generally provide the best possible outcome for the raising of children. I do however, understand there are other, alternative family units that have successfully raised children.

 

The termination of an unborn healthy child is something I don't believe in. As a child adopted into a wonderful family, I see no reason why anyone would want to have terminated me. To the woman who did not, I say Thank-you so much!

 

We should be good custodians of our environment. Alternative to fossil fuels, environmentally sustainable and renewable sources of energy should be developed and financially supported at all times. The long term protection of our environment should be paramount when making decisions which technologies will be publicly funded.

 

Education is paramount to the success of our nation. All should have easy access and support to inexpensive study. I support Youth Allowance/Austudy and the opportunity it gives many. I also support the idea of university supplied housing to needy students. Our brightest minds must be able to shine and my belief is we provide most support to those areas of study that create benefits for the nation.

 

Not everyone wishes a university education. For those with a trade in mind I believe we should support industry to encourage the uptake of more apprenticeships.

 

Government should play a major role in creating jobs. National companies should be set up where private companies of National interest are failing instead of bailing them out. (E.g. Steel)

 

All Government spending should be directed to Australia first. When the money is spent here it stays here and produces all the on-flow effects associated with that. Spending our money overseas should not be tolerated when the services are available here, regardless of cost. Matters of National interest must remain in Australian hands. 

 

I do not subscribe to larger and larger CEO wages. I believe these employees should be salary capped and rewarded with a job next year if they return a positive performance. It is outrageous how much some are currently paid.

 

Individuals must be held to account for corporate greed. Executives found guilty of fraud against the public, their employees or company, should be jailed. Monopolies and oligopolies should be constrained and controlled by the Government. All essential services should be owned and operated by the government including Electricity, Rail and Water etc.

 

Australia needs a development bank. One that can provide funds for major infrastructure projects such as the Bradfield scheme that will link water from North Queensland with the mighty rivers of the south. Inland rail for freight and dams are all things that the bank could easily achieve.

 

Longman needs a big project that will supply us with thousands of jobs for years to come. 3D Park is that project! It has all the things our country needs to get us out of debt, supply us with a long term income from foreign shores and put us at the forefront of the most game changing technology ever to reach us this century. Additive technology (3D printing) will replace the need for major factories, warehouses and ships. Small micro factories will be on every street corner to produce everything we need from computers to cars. Our homes and office towers will be built with them and so too will our replacement organs. The technology is already here, it is in its infancy and it needs someone to take it by the hand and develop it into what it will become.

                                                               They who holds the keys to this technology will not be left behind.
