The availability of land within close proximity of both critical transport modes, make the region ideal for the creation of a bulk storage and distribution centre catering for cargo to and from regions north of Brisbane as far as north Queensland.

With population growth continuing, time is running out for the government to clearly define appropriate land in areas such as Elimbah on the outskirts of Caboolture where vast storage areas, rail yards and track loops could be established off the main rail line to handle containers and other bulk cargoes transported by road and rail.

Incentives should be offered to attract a major retail distribution centre for businesses as a key facility on the main highway/rail link north of Brisbane servicing areas to the north as far as Townsville and Cairns.

Caboolture region is recognised as Brisbane’s northern fruit bowl, being Australia’s largest production area for strawberries and big producers also of pineapples, papaws, avocados and other produce.

The development of an improved transport facility would open the possibility of cold storage and even a cannery in the area to meet growers’ needs.    It would also take pressure off the existing Brisbane markets at Rocklea which already is looking at alternative sites for its facility.

The potential for this type of development is enormous and offers significant local job opportunities as well as creating confidence amongst business and commercial growers.

Mass storage/Distribution Centre:

There is an opportunity to have a Mass storage/ Distribution Centre to the Northern end of the region. Caboolture is strategically located on the main north-south Bruce Highway at its junction with the D’Aguilar Highway linking key towns to the west.   Caboolture railway station is also on the main east coast rail freight network.
